Haleiwa Scramble-Taylor

December 7, 1941. Several minutes after taking off from Haleiwa Field at the north end of Oahu Island, 1st. Lt. Kenneth Taylor joins his wingman, 1st Lt. George Welch in attacking a flight of Aichi Type 99 "Val" dive bombers en route to striking the Marine base at Ewa Field outside of Pearl Harbor. Taylor runs up and down the line of Japanese bombers and shoots down two of them before heading to Wheeler field to refuel and rearm.
